Norm Geras has a report claiming that in the wake of the Taba bombing, the Mossad has a new priority: al-Qaeda.
"This time Al-Qaeda hit our back yard," said a security source. "If we don't focus on them, next time it will be Tel Aviv. After four years of intifada we've succeeded in containing the Palestinian terror, but now we're facing a much more ruthless enemy we can't ignore any more."
In a probably unrelated bit of news, the Russian secret service also seems to have adopted a new global enemy see also this analysis in Jane's). Hmmm, and there are an awful lot of Russian-speaking Jews in Israel. Weren't the Russians recently talking to the Israelis about terrorism?
There's still a ways to go on this front, but who knows? Times may be about to get a bit tougher for global Islamism. The Americans may not be willing to do what's necessary around the globe, but the Islamists are busily accumulating other enemies who are.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
