From Metaphilm, The Return of Hobbes:
"In the film Fight Club, the real name of the protagonist (Ed Norton’s character) is never revealed. Many believe the reason behind this anonymity is to give "Jack" more of an everyman quality. Do not be deceived. "Jack" is really Calvin from the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes. It's true. Norton portrays the grown-up version of Calvin, while Brad Pitt plays his imaginary pal, Hobbes, reincarnated as Tyler Durden."
Thus begins a whimsical, provocative, and deep review - with my all-time favourite comic-book characters taking centre stage. In the end, we must all 'slay' our tiger-friends... but they never truly die.

But nah, it musn't be so. Some of us nurtue our imaginary comrades to the point where killing them would kill us as well. Please don't alert my counselor as, we've craftily tricked him into believing there are only one of "us."
As well, Hobbes would never promote such outright violence, mischief by all means, but then I'm sure you knew that.
This is OLD!!!!!!!
Hobbes wouldn't be a part of Fight Club because they wouldn't allow his claws to be used. Or his shirt and belt (?).
An epiphany!
While I agree to an extent and disagree to an extent with enveryone's though and opinion.
The C&H parellel to the J&T look of reality. The biggest conflict here is that I am not sure if people actually would think what would happen to Calvin as to him growing out of the stages of mid to late childhood into adolesent, to teenager, to young adult, to adult? So much could have changed from Calvin living in a "safer" reality of his suburban housing and elemantary schooling (with bullying and lack of friends threat) which would lead into Calvin either regressing into his child mind of reality as a obscured set path of abstract theories, or even devolve into what people believe as "nerds", "dorks", and other forms of "outcasts". With social ruling as might makes right with kids these past few hundred years, Calvin might slowely force himself to be more passive, accepting, sloath-like, depressive (thanatos if you want to get into it), drone living style that is according to television/movies that people long to relate to (even with movies/television relating to real life. So in a sence, if you look into Fight Club in the eyes of Tyler/Hobbes in a reality/psycology aspect. Hobbes is the primal, feirce, violent, and natural spirit that help keeps Calvin in check with the world(s) we all live in just like Tyler to Jake. Calvin may ended up as the life of Jake and ended up just passivially go through life as an insurance recorder guy. Just accepting life as it is. Tyler/Hobbes couldn't take this form of reality to continue in such an unhealthy way. So Jake/Calvin started to get healthy, understanding of truth, seeing the true reality that life was MEANT to give us before this whole industrial complex came into effect. Thus Calvin & Hobbes maybe infact the inspiration for Fight Club in a late 90's aspect of the backlash for X generation's work life style.
