Perhaps the impact this nation could have on the nuclear proliferation prospects of the rest of the world would be better if we were not in possession of such a large store of outmoded weapons ourselves. An interesting proposal is presented on today's WaPo by John Hamre, former deputy defense secretary and now president of the Center for Strategic and International Studies, one suggestion being that he "believe[s] we should commit to retiring all our existing nuclear warheads and building a small number of new-design weapons in their place." I am shocked, shocked, to read that this country is hampered by its own aging stockpile. Perhaps the ongoing review of the administration of Los Alamos' nuclear research facilities will lead to updating of our strategic direction.

A suspect in the Theo van Gogh murder has been detained by Dutch police. Are you sure Nouredine El F. has been detained?

Put Hazel O Leary back in charge ? a, You are correct, the bullet on Nouredine El F. has been corrected. He is believe to have visited and was not detained.
Less understandable is the Americans' eagerness to arm the PLO.

He is believed to have been in Belgium, that is close to Holland but it still isn't in Holland. But on Sunday there was a newscast with a lot of new information. If you understand dutch you could watch it But this has some of that information in English.
