Steve at Word Unheard summarizes an interview that al Qaeda's chief in Iraq, Abu Musab al Zarqawi, gave to Jordanian journalist Fouad Hussein. Zarqawi "revealed what al Qaeda believes to be seven steps to achieving not only a caliphate, but total Muslim world domination." (Interview link here.)
Meanwhile, Michael Barone says,... "multiculturalism" is under sharp attack. Multiculturalism preaches that we should allow and encourage immigrants and their children to maintain and celebrate their own culture apart from the national culture.
These two pieces are related. In my ongoing essay, "The Forever Jihad," I explained how a genesis of a rift may be forming between al Qaeda and its larger, Islamist religious kin. But the rift, if real, is only one of tactics and techniques, not of goals and objectives. Islamism is not always violent and its adherents are much more numerous than belong to Islamist terrorist groups.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
