If you've been reading Winds for very long, you know who Paul "Chief Wiggles" Holton is. The FedEx employee reservist who served in Iraq. The military interrogator who broke windows all the way up the chain of command trying to get some of the Iraqi generals in his charge released (and did, with support from Winds of Change.NET and others). The kindhearted Major whose sighting of an Iraqi child crying at a fence made a difference in Iraq, saved lives, and changed what the blogosphere believed it could accomplish. The citizen-to-citizen aid project at Operation Give is still going strong, and even participated in post-tsunami relief efforts.
We've been proud to back him up, and to promote Operation Give. Now his book, "Saving Babylon," is heading for the bookstores. As he puts it:
"Yes, war is hell; full of death, darkness, difficulties, and hard times. As soldiers we endure a lot and live without a lot, but all things can be turned into something positive as we look for ways to make a difference. Wherever we go, amidst death and destruction, there are opportunities to make a difference, to be a positive force for good. Small seemingly insignificant acts of love can bring about flowers from the graveyard of war."
Paul is a remarkable man who brought light and humanity into the darkness of war. This is a book worth putting on your holiday gifts list.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
