Aesthetic Deletions Update: Slobodan Milosevic

He's dead, Jim. Unfortunately his evil wife Mirjana Markovic, whose megalomaniac tendencies and influence may have done at least as much to precipitate post-Yugoslavia ethnic cleansing as Milosevic himself, is still alive in Russia.

Any Committee volunteers to fix this before Yale or Columbia add one more Marxist sociology professor by giving her tenure? She'd look good beside the Taliban spokesman Yale actively recruited - or fit in well with Columbia's Middle Eastern Studies faculty, who are big on genocide against approved targets.

(Suggested new solgan for the True Left, with a hat tip to Andrew J. Lazarus: "Marxist sociology professors are to Marxism what chewing gum is to nutrition.").

Let's not forget that our buddy Juan Cole is up for a chair at Yale as well...

Damn, I really wanted to know whether Saddam or Milsovic would have finished their trial first.

He'd look good beside the Taliban spokesman, too. They have so much in common....

When will we be able to see the Iranian Mullahs dying in jails?

I guess Ramsey Clark will be doing the eulogy. This is his big chance to make up for missing Stalin's funeral.

When will we be able to see the Iranian Mullahs dying in jails?

Never.

They'll all be BBQ'd in a nano-second real soon now

I had a neocon ex-leftist (personal friend of Irving Kristol), as a Sociology prof in college. He took Marx VERY seriously as a thinker, though he went beyond Marx in many ways, and certainly didnt agree with Marxist prescriptions for the direction society should take. The Soc dept being what it was, most of the teaching assts were Marxists, but they highly respected the prof.

I think your casual dismissal of Marxist Sociology (far superior to, say, Marxist economics, for ex) does you no service.

Id rephrase it : Marxist sociology professors are to sociology what Newtonian physicists are to physics. Unfortunately sociology awaits its Einstein (though id say the Maxwells, etc are already out there)

"Marxist sociology professors are to sociology what Newtonian physicists are to physics."

Let me rephrase again! Marxist sociology professors are to sociology what Hollywood is to the Wyoming cattle industry.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
