Iran tests its Shihab 3 missile.
Bush says, Not so fast, buddy! (Comment from that site: "I remember a Bugs Bunny short where he gets slapped in the face with a glove. He then proceeds to return the slap, but not before putting a brick inside the glove, first. Ah, that wascawwy Pwesident…")
Predictably, some Jews are saying "Shhh, you'll just make things worse!"
Jewish community leaders have urged the White House to refrain from publicly pledging to defend Israel against possible Iranian hostilities, senior Jewish activists told the Forward. These leaders think Americans would blame the Jews because they hang out in the urban liberal left. If they spent more time with Joe Sixpack in Redland, they would find out that he is probably cheering Bush on and wondering why they don't. (RELATED: Walid Shoebat gets frustrated.). . . . "We are basically telling the president: We appreciate it, we welcome it. But, hey, because there is this debate on Iraq, where people are trying to put the blame on us, maybe you shouldn't say it that often or that loud," said Abraham Foxman, national director of the Anti-Defamation League. "Within the Jewish community there is a real sense of 'thank you but no thank you.'"
Communal leaders say that although they deeply appreciate the president's repeated promises to come to Israel's defense, public declarations to that effect do more harm than good. Such statements, they say, create an impression that the United States is considering a military option against Iran for the sake of Israel — and could lead to American Jews being blamed for any negative consequences of an American strike against Iran.
Jewish activists are concerned that "there would be [a scenario] just like with Iraq: the idea that somehow the Jewish community and the neoconservatives have dragged the United States into a conflict with Iran," said Martin Raffel, associate executive director of the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, a policy coordinating organization that brings together 13 national Jewish agencies and 123 local Jewish communities. "And if things go badly and our people are killed, then who is to blame?"

the idea that somehow the Jewish community . . . dragged the United States into a conflict with Iran
And then voted 75/25 for Kerry to cover their tracks. Very crafty people . . .
This is too funny for words.
Yes I guess that those of Jewish extraction who whisper this are hanging out with the wrong people. You would think that they would do a reality check, but no sign so far.
The problem with Iran is not Israel; that is only a symtom and an excuse.
The real issue is that bullies, orient and attack those upholding civilized norms and the statis quo. Iran attacks Israel, bacause it's easy and historical to do so. Iran attacks the US because we stand in their path to an islamo- facist destiny.
These are not statis quo people, they are revolutionaries and zelots. And this makes them quite dangerous.
Abe Foxmans job is to keep tabs on antisemitism. I think he has a pretty good idea what hes talking about. and most Americans that I know dont think of themselves as "liberal" or "conservative", as redstate, or whatever. Its definitely NOT good for the Jews for any war the US enters into to be seen as done "for" Israel. and resentment against the Jews is no monopoly of the left, Im afraid. And Abe Foxman is no hero among the anti-Israel left.
besides, the notion that the US will respond to an attack by Iran on Israel is used as an argument FOR letting Iran have nukes (theyll be deterred, or so its said) It doesnt add to the arguement for DOING something to PREVENT Iranian nukes.
Israel's goal and policy has always been to defend ITSELF.
