The source of Hezbollah's rockets

London-based, Saudi-owned newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat reporter Ali Nouri Zadeh reports an excusive: Iran is the supplier of Hezbollah's weaponry! The unnammed Revolutionary Guards officer added that

more than 3,000 Hezbollah members have undergone training in Iran, which included guerilla warfare, firing missiles and artillery, operating unmanned drones, marine warfare and conventional war operations. He said they have also trained 50 pilots for the past two years.

It's good to see confirmation of basic facts from an unexpected angle--even those facts that few reasonable people thought were in dispute.

At The Counterterrorism Blog, Oliver Guitta summarizes a paragraph from the Arab version of this article that gives more detail:

But the Arabic version of the piece is, as usual, much more detailed: the 200 Iranian Revolutionary Guards have been stationed in Lebanon since 1990. They have married Shia Lebanese women, mostly "Hezbollah widows" and have changed their names to Lebanese names. They installed over twenty fixed rocket bases in the Bekaa Valley and provided Hezbollah with mobile bases to launch rockets. Furthermore a secret elite force of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard composed of about twenty men is watching the Israel Defense Forces' every move with very sophisticated high-tech material and then deciding on the targets to hit inside Israel.

Six other overlooked bits of information are also on offer in Guitta's post.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
