Discarded Lies links to and excerpts a Foreign Policy magazine article that looks at what the Middle East and international relations globally would be like without Israel. Since this is a sotto voce wish of many in the EU and on the hard left, and touted by others as a way to solve America's problems in the region, it deserves examination.

Nietzche eventually broke with Wagner (his former friend) over the latter's anti-semitism.
Nietzche figured that anti-semitism was the mark of a profoundly and willfully stupid mind. That no sensible and educated person could hold those views.
That Arab nations, and indeed Muslim nations hold these views (Maylasia would not let Schindler's List play in it's country because it was sympathetic to Jews) shows the total broken-ness of their societies.
The same it must be said goes for much of Europe.
No educated, sound society can hold anti-semitic views.
If Israel didnt exist, the Arabs would have had to invent it.
The existence of Israel is bad for Muslim countries, but not in the way you think. As long as Irael exists, Muslims can project onto Israel their centuries of failure. This may divert wrath from Muslim tyrants and even provide hoi polloi with a momentary thrill, but it ensures that Muslim problems will remain unsolved. It would seem that only by eliminating Israel will ordinary Muslims rid themselves of their self-delusions. Israel has something to say about that, fortunately.
-If Israel didnt exist, the Arabs would have had to invent it.
If the Arabs didn't exist, Israel would have to terrorise their own people.
