Aikido Wisdom: The Source of Excellence

| 4 Comments

Morihei Ueshiba founded the martial art of Aikido in 1942. It's most famous these days for being Steven Segal's method of choice; but it also has a unique approach and philosophy. At least one of our team members has some Aikido skills, and can vouch for its effectiveness.

O Sensei (common term of address for Ueshiba among aikidoka) said:

"Progress comes
To those who
Train and train;
Reliance on secret techniques
Will get you nowhere."

My first ballet instructor always said, "The good pain, the beneficial pain, if it doesn't hurt you are not doing it right. " ;)

I think I'm going to begin lessons in Aikido at a local dojo next month.

Progreso venas a ti qui exercas e ne cesas exercar;

Toyre kumt nit b'yerushe. Onu ne heredas la lernado. (Mea Yida proverbo)

I have been practicing Aikido since 1998 and each day I find it very useful for my everyday life. It integrates body, mind, and life into one unity.

It is a way to keep and develop mind and body altogether.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
