For Canadians, many of our Remembrance Day memories hearken back to WWI and gas warfare at places like Ypres. So it seems appropriate to highlight Bill Quick's blog entry which notes that America's preparedness for a biowarfare scenario may not have improved much since 9/11.
Bill's comments section does a bangup job of looking at some of the reasons why, and discussing the issue generally. You can see more in-depth coverage of this topic in our 4HA: Nukes, Germs & Poisons category archive.
If this topic alarms you, you might consider a letter to the most energetic and informed legislator on this subject in the entire U.S. Congress. The recently-reelected Chris Shays was pushing for improvements in this area long before 9/11. Support him.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
