We're talking about political decency today... here's someone from the liberal side of the aisle who lives it. Gary Farber of Amygdala is back with some truly excellent blogging, and his permalinks are working at last. Good to see you online again, Gary! Some highlights:
- Brings together several studies in Pakistan, Guantanamo, and Lebanon to point out an important truth: terrorists are not poor or driven by economic desperation. Indeed, they're consistently above average in terms of their wealth and social position.
- The best coverage and round-up in the Blogosphere, bar none, of liberal writer Todd Gitlin article noting that much of the Left's agenda isn't a policy, it's merely a reaction - and that won't do. Start here, then look for the outstanding follow-up piece here. "Respectfully, I think you're headed in entirely the wrong direction with the question at the end of this otherwise thoughtful post. "Who are the liberal heros?" is the wrong question, and a distraction, and a childish game...." Read it.
- The artist who captured Adolf Eichmann. Fascinating guy.
"After an initially discounted 1957 tip exposed the whereabouts and alias of Eichmann, the Mossad leader Isser Harel sent a commando team of Mr. Malkin and six others to Buenos Aires to bring Eichmann back alive. During surveillance around the suburb of San Fernando, where Eichmann was living as Ricardo Klement, Mr. Malkin had lots of time, he said, to fill his guidebook with images in water colors, acrylic and even the makeup that was kept on hand to disguise Eichmann when they caught him.
"I spent a lot of time in churches," he said, showing the paintings of stained glass windows. "If you go to a synagogue, someone is always asking if you're alone, if you're married. In a church in a hundred years no one would ask."
- The Telegraph reporter who riffled through the Iraqi Foreign Ministry's files and found the (alleged) dirt on George Galloway talks about his find. What really clinched it for me that these were real: the documents about leaks in the roofs of Iraq's diplomatic properties in London, and how those were handled. If you've ever been in a big, dumb bureaucracy, you'll get this instantly.
- The Iraqi Information Minister's "404 - Page Not Found" error message. The best "404 message" I've ever seen. Steal it now! (Hat Tip: Kesher Talk)
- The extremely brilliant Periodic Table of Dessert. From base elements like sugar onto macadamia and sprinkles, it's all here and organized.

"Liberals have perfectly good policies"
Not really. But what liberals seem to miss is that policies don't get things done. It takes people and leadership and conservatives know this to be true.
BTW. Most of the Democratic party so called leaders are just demogogue's and more interested in power and personal gain than in actually implementing any of their wrong headed policies.

As opposed to...???
I'll refer you to "Arrogant Capital" by that well-known liberal Kevin Phillips.

Oh...can't resist this...that 30-year mortgage on your house?? Liberal policy. The (relatively) clean air outside your window this morning...ditto. The state university and the medical school your doctor went to...but I go on...

I just read and find. And, oh, yeah, think.
The periodic table of dessert is particularly delicious, and from a long time friend, so I'm particuarly proud. It's so sniffable, and lickable, and all that there. One finds it with good taste.
I forgot who pointed me to this, but don't go here unless you can block out 2-3 hours to browse around:
