Holy jumping...!!! Charles Johnson does some digging, and comes up with a serious, serious journalistic story. Courtesy of some records from the "Office Of U.s. Chief Of Counsel For Prosecution Of Axis Criminality". It ties together the Grand Mufti of Jerusalem Hajj Amin Al Husseini, the Nazis, and Ibn Saud - the founder of the dynasty that rules Saudi Arabia today.
The Grand Mufti was an infamous Nazi collaborator, and Charles has some photos on his site including the Mufti offering his blessing to an SS unit. Recruitment of Muslim volunteers for the Axis was also apparently part of the Mufti's activities, and so was urging the Nazis to bring the Holocaust to his part of the world. Lovely man.
Now, the words of Yasser Arafat:
"We are not Afghanistan... We are the Mighty People. Were they able to replace our hero Hajj Amin al-Husseini? ... There were a number of attempts to get rid of Hajj Amin, whom they considered an ally of the Nazis. But even so, he lived in Cairo, and participated in the 1948 war, and I was one of his troops."You still are, Yasser. You still are. And $1.3 billion for yourself while Palestinian kids starve! You're a worthy successor to your mentor.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
