My day job is sending me to the UK the week after this. I'll be in Guildford and Derby, primarily, and only have limited free time.
But I'd love tips on things to do or see there, and it'd be a treat to connect with any UK bloggers.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
Around Derby I'd suggest visiting Dove Dale and round about in the Peak District, for the countryside.
There's the Elizabethan palace of Hardwick Hall not too far away IIRC. And the home of Lord Curzon, Viceroy of India at Kedleston.
The cable car at the Height of Abraham.
If you've an interest in industrial history, the Derwent Mills World Heritage Site is a must.
If you're pressed for time, go for the mills: one of the birthplaces of the industrial revolution.
Haven't a clue about Guildford, though.
