Australia disrupts major terrorist attack

Since this is unlikely to get much play out of Australia, I have posted a series of news stories rounding up the disruption of what looks at this point like a thwarted al-Qaeda/Lashkar-e-Taiba joint operation over at Rantburg that you can start reading here and just keep scrolling down until you reach the end of the "Down Under" section.

In unrelated news, via Alphabet City I see that al-Qaeda has confirmed the capture of Mustafa Setmariam Nasar.

This is somewhat odd the timing of this. I remember just the other day when a certian AQ leader somehow mysteriously escaped out of our Bagram air base. I also remember reading anaylist on how this terrorist in his time was the go to guy for operations in Asia for Bin Laden. Had in depth knowledge on terrorist cells and contact points operations. (at the time I remember hoping it was a tag and release RFID) I also seem to recelect that Asia and specifically Australia have been in the cross hairs of AQ and intel pointing in that direction more more last couple of weeks. Now all of the sudden just days after escape Australia rolls up 17 AQ and a major attack in the latter state of execution. Hmmm being the conspiracy guy that thinks somewere we do actually have leadership ready to do what has to be done (whatever that is) in the right places in the Mil and Gov makes me wonder if the two are connected and if maybe my earlier guess was wrong and instead X terrorist got a escort over behind the little mud hut on the hill were after some influence he decided to talk in returm for the Big Satan to send him to his virgins kind of influence ya know.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
