Carnival of the Vanities #45 is Up!

The Carnival has arrived over at Lies, Damn Lies, and Statistics. My personal favourites:

Entertainment section: see the "Top 20 Country & Western Song Titles" post for a good laugh.

Foreign Affairs and Liaisons section: All 4 are good. Caerdroia on reforming America's spy system, Feste on Iraq and post-war Japan, Signal + Noise on that "terrorist futures market" concept, and Peaktalk with a hopeful pre-obituary and some thought-provoking musings on that Ugandan monster Idi Amin Dada.

Politics (The Unintentionally Humorous Stuff): Look for "Rev. Alan Brill" of The Right Christians. Do NOT let the name fool you, he offers what may be the best liberal analysis I've yet seen of liberalism's political problems. Two hints to get you started: losing teen spirit, and worldviews not interest groups.

On the other side of the fence, Reflection in D Minor offers a very smart and easy to communicate analysis of socialism and why it fails. It rings true, and the connection with art was especially interesting.

Technology section: LaughingWolf's suggestions and insights re: Space Commercialization are very much worth your time.
