Chris Bliss' Extraordinary Finale

Some of you may have seen posts about Chris Bliss' extraordinary Tonight Show juggling finale. If you haven't, then head right on over here and click on "The Big Finale."

It's worth having a less-encumbered processor to really get the most out of the video, which is very timing-based. Playback needs to be smooth to give a full appreciation of the brilliance of the act. You may want to quit a couple of other programs first - or not, if you have the horsepower.

His comedic clips are also quite good, and so is his page/ audio clip set that talks about the techniques of comedy and offers illustrations.

this is boring and useless, I have no interest in "stupid human tricks" shame on you for sullying this "up till now" timely and practical blog. fag

Nobody can survive on doom and gloom alone.

that is some awesome juggling!!

This was incredible. Kinda reminds me of a hula hoop performance by Mat Plendl on the tonight show back in the 1990s.

I thought it was cool, and a welcome diversion from blood, war and name-calling.

I wonder how much of the applause was for his pyrotechnical handwork, and how much of it was out of fondness for the Beatles, and a time when a lot of people really did think that "all you need is love".

That was pretty awesome. I'm in awe of people with that kind of manual dexterity and coordination; I can barely catch a baseball most days.

I thought it was great. Especially the way he was following the rhythms of the music in detail, one moment the vocals, then the drum fills, then the bass, then the guitar solo. Usually the juggler sticks to a very basic, steady beat - this guy was using fairly complex rhythms from the song, moving from quarter notes to sixteenths, to half-note triplets, etc. and various combinations, with lots of syncopation. I don't follow juggling so I don't know if this was an innovation, but I've never seen anyone do that.

If you're into juggling, you might want to check out Jason Garfield's parody of the Chris Bliss routine here.

Wow! That guy is like the Jimmy Hendrix of juggling. Itīs like playing air guitar with balls!

"The Jimmy Hendrix of juggling." Good description, I like that.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
