Don't you feel better about your job already?
"Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) biologists have found that problem crocodiles will travel an average of 10 miles per week to return to their capture site.... In an effort to break the "homing" cycle, FWC biologists have initiated a new study. Crocodile agents have been instructed to attach magnets to both sides of the crocodile's head at the capture site. It is hoped the magnets will disorient the crocodiles and disrupt their navigation, so they can't find their way back to the capture site. The magnets are removed from the crocodile's head upon release."
"Crocodile agents". Sounds kind of undercover, doesn't it? Should be fine, I guess, as long as you avoid the mating season...
The taping technique was apparently pioneered by Mexican scientists, who have had some success with it. And yes, the associated picture is an American Crocodile, not an alligator. It's actually good news that they've become a nuisance problem - at one point, the species was almost wiped out.

"You see, when Ernest and Bob have caught hold of the croc, and THEY're holdin' him down, then YOUR job is to go and tape these magnets right around his head. Sedated? Oh, not really, we're just going to drive him over to the next county and let him go; why would we bother to sedate him?"
Wasn't there a Peter Cook/Dudley Moore bit similar to this, involving Jayne Mansfield and lobsters?
