Extended Good News

By agreement and tradition, this blog and its multi-religious team devote Saturdays exclusively to "good news" posts and spiritual lessons. Our weekly Sufi Wisdom feature is a good example. As it happens, this weekend (and next weekend) are Jewish High Holidays. So, the good news tradition will include Sunday as well this weekend. We can always use a bit more of that in our world. We'll be back with our Iraq Report and Winds of War features on Monday and Thursday, not to mention our Regional Briefings (Latin America this Tuesday, South Asia this Wednesday) and the usual extras - like some background on the spam problem and who profits from it, for instance. Finally, a hearty welcome to readers of the Sydney Morning Herald, and a big "thanks, digger!" to David Stonehouse for chopping us in.

ahem This Saturday just happens to be one of the most important Jewish holidays too.

Okay, I've been in shul all weekend and I didn't scroll down - sorry.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
