I remember when the stories about looting, etc. came out. A friend of mine just laughed over the phone and asked if the reporters actually knew any museum curators. "They are," he said, "pretty attached to their collections." He figured that once a serious investigation could be conducted, we'd find that steps had been taken long ago, and the losses would turn out not to be so bad.

When the looters started taking computers someone asked if the US inteligence was upset to loose that data, and I remarked I was sure that the US already had what they wanted off those hard drives.
