Freedom for the Iraqi Generals!

Wow, the good news just keeps on rolling in. Many of you have read our previous posts about an honourable set of Iraqi generals, and our efforts to get them freed. Well (Hat Tip to Samuel Tai)...

"Guess what happened today? It has finally happened!! The generals have been released. I can't believe it, it is such a good feeling to hear that they were released. After countless hours spent over the past 5 months and the involvement of numerous high-ranking officers, including 5 different US generals, and the prayers and efforts of all of you, eleven of the generals were released to return to their homes and the rest are due to be released in the next few days. This is a great day...."

Yes, it is. You should also read the rest. Looks like The Chief et. al. are working on some big things, and that his work sifting through sources is paying off.

Meanwhile, with respect to the "Toys for Iraq" hangups, I'm doing a few things on my end and working with Dean Esmay & co. to find some alternatives. Stay tuned.

If Joe would get his phone messages he would know these things that much sooner. ;-) Just kidding!

I want to thank Joe for his efforts on behalf of the generals and, now, on behalf of the Toy Drive. His help has been noted by many and the Chief especially wanted me to pass his thanks along.

Through the efforts of many, including all of you who wrote letters and email, justice has been served and these good men can go about the business of building a nation.

Again, my thanks to Joe!

Congradulations to the Chief, WoC and everyone whose hearts and efforts moved the Esprit d'Am�ricain to a touchdown. Way to go guys! Play some Buffet for a change. ;-) Let us know what impact the generals have for their country.

The whole ballgame is up to the Iraqis and their sense of honor, pride and desire for liberty. I have complete faith in them.

This feeling is only reinforced when I hear the story of the details of the bombing attempt in Baghdad: http://justinalexander.net.hosting.domaindirect.com/2003_10_01_archive.htm#106596557843518815 . Those Iraqi guards stopped that car cold! They are the heroes of the new Iraq!!

Where is more illuminating media coverage of the Iraqis and what is in their hearts and minds as a result of this dramatic transformation in their lives? Thanks goes to Memri ( http://www.memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=countries&Area=iraq&ID=IA15003 ). Iraqis speak of honor. I can dig it.

The war we must fight is also the war of policy at home. Check out USS Clueless, when Steven writes http://www.denbeste.nu/cd_log_entries/2003/10/Demonstrationofpower.shtml . We can show the world that we are with them. Is that not what we are finally doing in Iraq? We are meeting the obligation we assumed in '91.
