I think the interesting part is that these animals seem not to need government sanctioning in order to be happy.

Now to keep in the same tune of the previous comments; what happens when a human realizes that this new species of "Gay Penguins" is now down to only two examples left with no hope of ever surviving in the wild without intervention? Will they become protected with government funding of cloning to preserve them? Without such intervention, I imagine nature will determine that this lifestyle is not successful and the activity of these gay penguins will go the way of the dodos. Alas they already seem to have government protection within the NY Central Park Zoo. Good thing they didn't live in the Galapagos.

Leland, you're making the assumption that the only source of gay penguins is gay penguins. But if that were true, then where'd these two come from? It would seem that your desire for the extinction of the gay penguin will not be satisfied.

One might think that the inability to procreate and the disdain of the group would be punishment enough. But hey, go ahead and smite them god. Smite them mightilly. "Never shall boy penguin layeth down with boy penguin for this is an abomination!"

I have no such desire, nor was one ever stated. My point was that the people at the other blog seem to just assume that, and apparently so do you. I find that fascinating. Someone finds "Gay Penguins" and the automatic assumption is that there must be people that want God to smite them.

My notion is that someone found "Gay Penguins" and they (the Penguins) seem to be naturally happy without religion or government affecting the happiness. Go figure.

Mark, though he may miss the irony touched a bit on my other point. It is natural, (God, mother-nature, what have you) that has determined that they cannot pro-create. Not I, nor anyone else, determind that. Although someone else could help them to pro-create.

They all seem perfectly happy as well, but I guess all those hetero penguins are engaging in pre-marital sex so they're all going to go to the big Penguin Inferno in their afterlife.
