Leafs vs. Senators: Naqba IV?

2001-2003. 3 years, 3 playoff hockey series, Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Ottawa Senators. 3 series losses for the Sens... and counting. Ottawa has outplayed the Leafs in many of these games, but the will of fate is adamantine. Again and again, they have snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. So it is once again in 2004, as the Senators faced elimination last night in Game 6.

There can be only one explanation for all this - the Sens have been blessed by AllahPundit.

Surely, nothing else can explain such consistent futility. And how could the Infinite Blogger not love a team representing the politicians and bureaucrats in Ottawa, willing friends to all manner of terrorists, who were nonetheless content to let AllahPundit's beloved Saudis torture Canadian citizen William Sampson without significant protest? Now add red uniforms, helmets, and a penchant for violence; and you have worthy counterparts to his beloved Crimson Jihad in Boston!

And we all know what that means....

UPDATE: 2-1 Senators, in double overtime. You know we're just messing with your head by taking it to Game 7, don't you Big Guy?

A soft goal on Patrick Lalime, some brilliant saves by Eddie the Eagle, and it's 1-0 as the first period draws to a close.

Do you really believe that Canadian politicians and bureacrats are friends to terrorists everywhere?

Crikey, even a hockey post is tied to terrorism.

Well as Clausewitz famously said:

"Hockey is the continuation of politics by violent means."

Kevin, they are certainly willing friends to some terrorists... the Khadr family, for example. And they have been negligent or even shown hospitality to other terrorists from all over the world, most notably the Tamil Tigers (where federal Cabinet members have appeared at fundraising dinners) but also extended to the wide ranging examples at the link given.

Stewart Bell's book is quite comprehensive in that respect. There comes a point where "friendly" is not too strong a word.

As for hockey's ties to terrorism, where AllahPundit is concerned the subject must follow. On to Game 7, therefore, where the Crimson Jihad of hockey shall be crushed and naqba will follow! You know Game 6 was just our way of messing with your head, don't you Big Guy?

By that definition, it is hard to think of a country that is not 'friends of terrorism'.

Besides, what happens in the East means nothing. The West will prevail - I mean the Western Conference of course.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
