Saif al-eslam Gadhafi, son of Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, tells CNN's Judy Woodruff:
bq. "I would like to send this message to the American people and the American government that we, the Libyan people, we want to have a more constructive and fruitful relationship with the Americans. . . . We don't want confrontation and aggression and, you know, to fight anymore. It's over. It's behind us now. It's dead with the Cold War."
As WSJ Best of the Web editor James Taranto notes:
bq. "Smart boy. He knows what happens to dictators' sons who do seek confrontation with America."
Just in case you had any lingering doubts, Saif.... As for Syria and Iran, another warning from U.S. President Bush to reinforce the concept.

His dad's been making noises like that since Sept. 11th, too. I don't know if it's backed by action - ceasing support for terrorism - or not. But at least there's one person in the entire world who's reciprocated Bush's "new tone".
Well, he's also been meddling heavily in Africa, where the US doesn't have a lot of influence and doesn't do a lot. Qadhafi figured out a while back that messing with the US was a bad idea, and has focused on Africa rather than the Middle East.
So we're actually believing what Gadhafi says, are we?
