The M-72 LAW rocket got a few people killed in Vietnam, where it would sometimes just bounce off the NVA's T-54 tanks. The Marines moved on, and replaced it with the AT-4 and SMAW. But now the LAW is making a comeback - and the M-72A7 is headed into Iraq!
Why are the Marines happy about this? What are the advantages for troops in the field? And what's this we hear about a new thermobaric warhead that would turn the LAW into 30" of serious instant badassery? We have the links and explanation over at Defense Industry Daily, a new professional blog dedicated to defense issues and daily procurement news.

I remember a July 4th celebration at Ft Carson, CO, where the unit's families were invited to a barbecue. There was a table of weapons and other items laid out, and several boys, about 10 years old, were checking them out (1sgt standing guard, "look but don't touch").
They were competing to show off their knowledge. When they got to the LAW, one remarked "And this one is made by Mattel".
I salute you in using 'badassery' correctly in a sentence.
Mazoo
It would be nice if that thermobaric warhead was "smart", because the choke sight on the LAW really sucks.
