Crowds are often pretty good predictors. Based on the popularity of approved/emailed items over at Yahoo!, Miss Poland would appear to have a strong shot at being Miss Universe 2006. Having performed the arduous task of looking through the all-contestants slide show, I'd say the crowd is on to something. But see for yourself - strictly in the interests of science, of course...

"This one goes to 11..."
In other Miss Universe news...

"That's right - me, AND my girlfriend..."
For those who believe in the babe theory of political movements, Miss Egypt is smokin'. Other strong contenders this year include Costa Rica, Ecuador, Panama, Iceland, India, & Singapore. Miss Japan projects fun cool better than the others, but cool doesn't win contests. Dunno about Miss Ireland's chances, but they'll definitely improve if she wears this gown. Standard disclaimer for such things, of course - YMMV.
There were a few photos of Canada's 2005 winner in the Yahoo! slide show, and when she stands next to the 2006 contestants you can really see why Miss Glebova won in 2005. Our 2006 entry (Toronto girl Alice Panikian, born in Bulgaria) is seriously cute and a fine ambassador, but I don't think we'll keep the title. Miss USA isn't going to come close.
Over on the official site, meanwhile, I notice that each contestant has a VLog. The times, they are a' changin.
Hey, someone has to keep on top of all this stuff....

Mandatory "I'd hit it"
I love science.
Joe:
They're beautiful but where do they find such tall women? I was taking a look at the Latin American contestant and they're over the 'top' so to speak with respect to average heights there.
I dunno, is there some sort of height requirement?

Thank you for your sacrifice!
Miss Poland IS spectacular. And Miss Brazil and...and...
Thanks, Joe. Nice change of pace on a Friday afternoon in "interesting times."
Thanks for all you do Joe. This is truly a great post. Your dedication to the blog is certainly admirable.
I think Miss Israel's kinda cute, too.
Ugh, ribs. Why are prominent bones and little pencil-y arms considered sexy? How about a little bounce? Have a Big Mac, sweetheart, and then we'll see.
Although, in fairness, they're way hotter than Armed Liberal.
Ugghh...Hot but c'mon guys. At least go after a girl who would live through an honest hook up. Ms. Poland would go into shock mid-screw. The visible ribcage - kind of a turnoff. Feed her a coupla happy meals before they shut down the pipeline. It's not like's she's a NoKo after all.
Don't forget Poland. smirk
Ah well, at least you crazies aren't complaining about 'leftistists' or talking about secession/treason like those redstate psychos.
Too bad Andrew Olmstead abandoned ya'll. He mighta injected some reason into the circle jerk. Not to worry though. I'm sure AL will be trying to preserve his liberal/moderate/democrat steet cred until the only people listening are Lieberman campaign workers. It's too bad that AL can't recognize the similarities between complaints against lieberman and himself.
ps. You might want to relax the spamfilters a bit. Considering they harassed me about my perfectly ordinary e-mail and let a fake one go through I'd chill out.
Sheesh, you'd think a post about hot nearly naked women wouldn't attract political trolling, but you'd be wrong.
Did I somehow miss the part about Miss Bolivia working for the DLC?
Your commitment to blogging, at whatever the personal cost, is admirable.
FYI: the comment field would not let me enter my site url: http://purpleslog.wordXpress.com in the url field.
I added in the X so you could see it.
There are a lot of blogs on wordXpress.com. I am not sure why you are blanket blocking them all.
"Your comment was denied for questionable content. You said wordXpress.com, which matched the banned text string wordXpress.com, which has previously been used by a spammer."
"Sheesh, you'd think a post about hot nearly naked women wouldn't attract political trolling, but you'd be wrong."
The comments forums have really gone to heck in the past 4-5 months.
I often wonder who they think that they are convincing, and how they think that they come off after threadjacking rants like that.
Mine only goes to about 6, but it's a really GOOD 6...
What a lovely women. I came here to rant about appeasment, ineffective political stances, tyrants, musings that only complicate hostility, and all that. Now I'm off-track. Thanks.
Delicious posting, just delicious.

Somewhere, a village is missing an idiot. If you're part of that village, we have Chris over here. Pity that there is no filter for those.
Celebrim, in answer to your question - and to return us in some way to the subject of the post - "jacking" is exactly the right word. Like masturbation, accomplishment is not the issue and they couldn't care less how deranged they sound. Read Activism Onanist Fantasy Ideology for a deeper explanation.
Or, go look at the Miss Universe pictures. I know which one I'd choose.
Purpleslog... we had a lot of auto-generated spam blog trackbacks from wordpress. Eventually we got tired of them and banned the domain. These days, if you want to be free of filters, you need your own URL. If you ride on someone else's, you're only as good as they are - and the vast majority of them aren't any good when it comes to security.
All I can say about that is "get used to it," because what you've experienced will become steadily more common.
There's got to be some kind of psychology study in the way people reacted to this post of Joe's.
There were the traditional "heck yeah!" posts (I was one). Then there were the ranters. Finally a couple of posts implied the girl was too skinny and needed a "couple of happy meals" or a "Big Mac"
I think we are really on to something here at WOC. How many attractive women look like they could put on a few pounds? Quite a few? And were are the folks to help them out? What's our government doing about this? What are we, the mouths-agape men, doing?
I would like to propose a new "Burgers For Babes" ™ political movement. It's time that we helped these poor vuluptuous lasses out. Is there a gorgeous, nubile, model living in your neighborhood? Take her out for a jumbo chilli dog and some cheese fries! If you can't do it, hey -- I'm there for you. Somebody has to fatten these undernourished women up.
It's a tough job, but somebody has to do it. I'm ready to do my part.
Weird stuff going here.
Look at Miss Poland again. See her stomach muscles. See the level of her shoulders. See the way her hips are lean to the left in the picture, with her legs slightly crossed.
I'd have to conclude that her posture is causing her hips to slant to her right, our left, extending her ribs that way. She also seems to be holding her breath, after drawing one in, therefore tightening the belly and also inflating the chest.
Sometimes reading body language is better than reading Al Gore.
I say Gawd-damn! o_o Let's hear it for international babeage! Fewer wars, more beauty pageants, that's the way to go!
Instead of Burgers for Babes™, there are a couple of other names for the proposed organization to fatten up beauty pageant applicants:
Hamburgers for Hotties™
Give the Girl a Slurpee™
Burritos for Bimbos™
Linguine for the Bikini™
HoneyBuns for Hunnies™
Brickhouse Bar-B-Ques™
Pizza for Perfection™
Beers for Boquita™
Dogs for Dames™
Phat Feasts™
And people say I have too much time on my hands.
I watched the Miss Universe pageant Sun. night ...... I am WITH U man, Natalie the reigning queen lives 4ever!! Congrats Canada, and Russia! What a beauty! As for this year's pageant .....
For those of you who think Japan should have won ….. R U kidding? She should have been disqualified for grand-standing. She grabbed the mike and proclaimed how happy she was to be there and how she could feel the energy in the auditorium. Her translator (as if she needed one!) didn’t even get a chance to translate her answer to the question she was asked. Come on! Where are the rules when it comes to these matters? WHERE R the judges? She is soooooo lucky to have been named 1st runner up. She should have been OUTTA there! = David O
