CaliValleyGirl has a boyfriend deployed there. She did the research on blogs from or about Afghanistan so you don't have to.
As for the "CaliValleyGirl" name, I think she's more, like, "Legally Blonde," y'know? She sure doesn't write like a Valley Girl.

Hey! My wife is a Valley Girl (from a technical standpoint).
Whether it is justified for our Canadian/U.S. sons and daughters to be fighting and dying in
Afghanistan is a hard question to cope with. I wonder if those who champion
this war would be so gung-ho about it if they had their children fighting it.
China's human rights violations were equal to Afghanistan's not so many years
ago. It evolved into an industrial giant simply through external education,
competition and example. It evolved on its own.
Unfortunately, the point is mute. Harper's government has committed us for
the long haul. Hopefully it will not end like the Vietnam exit in which years of
killing was all for nothing.
All of you readers who are interested in the political developments in Afghanistan and who would like to learn about it, you may be interested to know that the New York Times' acllaimed writer, Rory Stewart, will be making a public presentation (free of charge) in Ottawa on Oct. 3 at the National Gallery of Canada on Sussex Street. He will be sharing his unique insights into Afghanistan's democratic development challenges and opportunities. Is there a better way to kick prejudice out and "download" pondered opinions and analysis? I think not. You can get more information and register at www.idrc.ca/speakerseries-afghanistan. Spread the word!!
