New Scummy Comment Spammer Tactic

| 10 Comments | 1 TrackBack

Just a quick alert: we've been getting some comments posts with genuine blogspot URLs that are designed to divert suspicion, and links that contain porno sites. Judging by the interlinked web of blogspot sites, it looks like someone's experimenting with this pattern for future use.

Suffice to say that MT-Blacklist has room for all of them... but other webmasters should be aware and alert. If you have MT-Blacklist, add these ASAP:

milf_hunter.blogspot.com
mike-in-brazil.blogspot.com
mike-in-brazil-4u.com
big-naturals.blogspot.com
big-naturals-4u.com
we-live-together.blogspot.com
we-live-together-4u.com
cumfiesta-4u.blogspot.com
cumfiesta-4u.com
8th-street-latinas-4u.blogspot
8th-street-latinas-4u.com
captain-stabbin.blogspot.com
captain-stabbin-4u.com
inthevip-4u.com
inthevip-4u.blogspot.com

It looks like they've got an automated system that generates corresponding blogs for new sites, at a derivative blogspot URL, and populates them with quasi-random quasi-poetry postings that include periodic URLs to the porn sites. This will get more sophisticated, so it's best to begin addressing the problem now. Given that the infamous Mike's Apartment site seems to be part of this ring, you'd have to, uh, finger them as the perpetrators.

I've let MT-Blacklist creator Jay Allen know (great tool, feel free to hit his tipjar). Could someone with a Blogspot weblog please tell Blogger about this, too? Just tell them that porno spammers seem to have an automated system that's taking advantage of them, then use our URL for this post to send them here: http://windsofchange.net/archives/005205.php

BlogSpot-aided spam from MT-Blacklist/Comment Spam Clearinghouse
Excerpt: You all may want to temporarily put blogspot.com in your personal blacklists, because someone is mass-creating sites at BlogSpot pointing to their actual domains. In the past, I’ve followed the link and added votes for every domain found on the...

I did a bit of research, and it doesn't look like mike in brazil is related to the mike who has the apt.

Another thing I noticed is a group of casino spammers setting up what looked to be personal sites. They had a small picture, a bio, copy 'n' pasted text from travelogues, etc. etc. They looked like personal sites from someone really boring. They also had 'casino' in the title and I guess a link to a casino site.

When I get a spam flood I use MySQL to show me distinct URL fields left during the flood. If there are any good comments in there I remove them. Then, I plug those bad URLs into a Java program I wrote that moves the bad comments into a bad_comments table. Rebuild and you're done.

Apparently they employ heuristics, because I haven't had a spam flood for a couple weeks. There have been a few stragglers which I removed manually, but no big blocks of spamlettes.

Listen dude!
These sites are mine and none of them was automaticaly made! Its hard work to gain some money from porn buisnes these days and its not like that everything we do is automated spam, so before you start to speak bout something and call sth spam, check if its actualy like this!
I used blogs for some domains and thats true, but every one of them was made manually and no more similar will be created!!!
Regards

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
