Obama's Nobel

I thought it was hard for the Nobel Peace Prize to sink any lower than it did when they gave it to a homicidal maniac who continued to preach hate and death (Arafat).

This one actually hits a new low. Awarding it for absolutely nothing at all is, in a way, worse than giving it to a maniac who was part of a high-profile conflict.

On the other hand, Marc has a good point. Turning down the prize would be very politically savvy. Which means the Nobel idiots have just handed us a very valuable test. This is where we find out whether Obama is just a good politician with charisma... or a leader who's dangerously narcissist.

He's been described both ways. We're about to find out which description wins.

If the gods of irony are watching as closely as the usually are, we are probably in for a huge up-swell in violence. Iran, are you listening?

What he isn’t though is a man with any substantive accomplishments that he can rightfully claim as his own. I sort of thought that the point of a “prize” was to award that sort of thing but the Nobel Committee was nice enough to disabuse all of us that notion this morning.

as if obama's ego needed further stroking. he would never do the right thing and politely decline the "award".

i'm sure the award for literature is upcoming for his ghost written books as well as an Emmy for his inauguration day speech, or his appearance on letterman

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
