Short Course: Physics of Sustainable Energy

An acquaintance pointed me to this, which looks like it'll be a really dense infodump. Anyone interested in signing up ought to try. The anti-sticker-shocker: it costs $100. For two days. Parking at the venue adds 30% to that ( :) ).

Sponsors: APS Forum on Physics & Society and AAPT

Physics of Sustainable Energy:
Using Energy Efficiently and Producing It Renewably

Saturday/Sunday, March 1-2, 2008, University of California at Berkeley

D. Hafemeister at calpoly.edu is handling registration. In the interest of reducing spam I'm not posting email in the clear. And I have yet to find an online link for this event.

I wish I could make it to this...

Short Course on Energy

Update: Here's the pdf announcing the event . And it would probably help if you are able to pass as an APS or AAPT member.

This short course is designed to acquaint physicists with an in-depth
technical knowledge of the promising developments in energy research
and to enable them to evaluate energy issues for teaching or for research.
The classes will be held in Evans Hall at UC Berkeley.

ATTENDANCE IS LIMITED and is on first-come first-serve basis.

I would so much like to attend this course but I now live in Chile and the trip would be bit expensive. Is it possible, paying the cost of the course or a certain amount of dollars, to get the proceedings?

Best regards.

Juan

I'll be looking into that possibility; if it turns out to be possible I'll post details here. Thanks for asking.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
