Austin Bay responds to MSM writers who are just discovering the "strategery" behind democracy promotion:
The opportunities for genuine change were no secret– they were obvious. Moreover, those doing the tipping saw the goals and paid the price. These opportunities were earned– with tough, visionary US leadership, smart diplomacy, and the sweat and blood of coalition troops and the Iraqi people. Here’s a bandwagon I’ll join: Give the Iraqi people the Nobel Peace Prize.
I second that last sentiment.

I just emailed La Shawn - let's push this, let's promote this, let's see just how influential the bloggers are!
This tribute really belongs to the Iraqi people and we damned well can see to it they get it!

I certainly second that emotion. However, do you really think the Euroweenies on the Nobel prize committee will give out any awards that might tend to make America or Bush look good?
Why would the Iraqi people want to share an award that was given to a murderous dictator like Gorvachev or a terrorist like Yassar Arrafat?
It might also be interesting to note how many prominent recipients of this award were also publicly against the war that gave the Iraqi people their freedom and chance at democracy.
At first glance I like it. At second glance, I wonder what the Iraqi people have done to be insulted by comparison to the likes of Arafat. The Prize isn't exactly a prize these days.
However, perhaps this could rehabilitate it. I will say only, let's not forget the Afghan people as well. They were just as brave.
Good point.
