Thunderbird Upgrade - Be Careful!

See embarassing update, above...

My copy of Thunderbird just upgraded itself to 1.5.0.10 - and now it won't download any mail.

I can't get to the support forums at Mozilla, suggesting that I may not be alone...

So if you haven't upgraded yet, I'd consider disabling auto upgrade on Thunderbird and waiting to see what (if anything) is going on.

Armed Liberal, I have just experienced the same problem a couple of hours ago. My pc started playing up as soon as I clicked OK for downloading and Installing. I shut everything down and started up again, opened my browser - Firefox - went to Mozilla.com and downloaded the 1.5.0.10 from there. And "Voila!". There it was, with Address book, old emails and it was downloading New messages. Was this of any help? - well, it worked for me so why shouldn't it for you? Best regards, JD in Oslo

My copy upgraded about 20 minutes ago and is working fine. No problems.

yeah, I drew the short straw on this one, that's for sure...still not working...

If you're using Gmail's POP server for mail, check that SSL is still enabled under "Tools -> Account Settings -> Account -> Server Settings". I have experienced mail issues before after an upgrade and the reset of this option was the cause.

Geez, thanks for this warning. This way I won't be upgrading my Thunderbird as of the moment.

Automatic update seemed to work fine on Mac OS-X (PowerBook G4). Everything works as it should.

Damn. The "I've just downloaded the update and will install when you restart" message is sitting on my computer...

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
