Thanks for the good job you do with the blog. I'd appreciate your help in making Americans serving in Iraq aware of Spirit of America, I thought you might know some. We may be able to help them in their time there. Following is some background information.
Spirit of America (SoA) is a nonprofit that helps Americans serving abroad make a bigger and more positive impact. We enable Americans serving abroad to make requests for goods that will help local people. SoA then finds donors in the United States to fulfill the requests, arranges shipment of the goods to the requestors and publicizes the results to donors and the broader public.
We recently completed our "pilot phase" where we fulfilled requests from Marines serving in Iraq - one for dental supplies and one for soccer jerseys. All the goods included an insert to help communicate that Americans are friends and allies of the Iraqi people. Getting that message across is a critical objective of ours and is one of the primary reasons we exist. We are now gearing up for our official launch in October and are able to accept requests from other servicemen and women. Our Web site has more information at www.spiritofamerica.net.
Anyone who would like to make a request can simply go to this URL or send me an email via jim, at spiritofamerica period net - and we'll do the best we can to help. Please let me know if you can get the word out to those serving in Iraq. We're not looking for lots of exposure just a few emails to servicemen and women who may wish to make a request. Feel free to forward this message.
Also, I'd be happy to put you in touch with those we've worked with most closely in getting our system, etc. figured out - two Marines and one Army Special Forces Sergeant. They can vouch for what we're up to but the Web site will give you the idea.
Thanks, Jim Hake

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
