Back in December 2003, I put together Lessons for the Sandbox, a compilation of our after-action reviews, gear reports, and other military lessons learned pieces. Recently, Phil Carter posted Relearning War's Timeless Lessons, about the work of American junior officers in Iraq and beyond as they apply those lessons to current realities, adapt, and share those lessons at unprecedented speed.
This has always been the deadly heart of the Western Way of War, fighting not just as we train but as we live. America's wired culture, which has transformed many of its corporations and organizations, is transforming its military too. As we (and military guest bloggers) have noted, it's the human element of that transformation that matters most.
So, I'm glad this stuff is happening. I'm also glad to see talented, decisive, and brave men like 1st Lieutenant Neil "Red Six" Prakash of the blog Armor Geddon (love that Election Day story, R6), who recently earned a Silver Star for his actions in Ba'qubah, Iraq.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:
*This* puts text in bold.
_This_ puts text in italics.
bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.
To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
