US soldiers serving in the U.S. counterterrorism task force for the Horn of Africa were in the region carrying out humanitarian work when they came across two cheetah cubs held captive and abused at a remote village restaurant in eastern Ethiopia. They were being forced to fight each other for the amusement of children, and one had been kicked in the face and blinded by the poacher who delivered them to the restaurant.
Ethiopian Government vet Fekadu Shiferaw confiscated the 3-month-old cheetah cubs from a restaurant owner in Gode, Ethiopia, then gave them to U.S. troops for safekeeping. "The U.S military has also agreed to divert a plane to Addis Ababa on Tuesday so we can bring the cheetahs and the vet to the capital."
As good practice for the anti-terrorism mission, I recommend sending the restaurant owner to Gitmo unless he coughs up the identity of the poacher. Whereupon the poacher(s) can experience life on the other side. Gotta keep those terrorist hunting skills sharp, you know, and marksmanship is important....

Nice story - but I got breathless when I first saw the headline, because I thought it said "US Soldiers Rescue Cheetah Clubs"
Now that's a story I'd like to read! ;-)
Glad they got them out, the "owner" was wanting to extort a huge amount of money for them. Would love to bring him and the poacher(s) and introduce them to a couple of guys who would be glad to explain that this is not nice to do to "kitties" even though the guys are wolves...
The soldiers involved are good people. It would be nice if the scum who poached and mutilated those animals had to face them.
