I really need a new name for this feature. Suggestions, anyone?
There's little question now that war is imminent. In an effort to bring y'all some of the more interesting pieces out there without cramping the team's style, I've started putting each day's interesting links in one post of short listings. We'll add to it (at the top of the list) as we come across good new material during the day.
Oh, and if you think your blog has a worthy post in this area, feel free to let me know and I'll come take a look.
- When you add all this up, it says "Dirty Bomb Attack" to me. (Hat Tip: Donald Sensing) Winds of Change.NET has covered dirty bombs before (and here). We've also covered the kits you should have: Armed Liberal's uber first aid kit, and the "bug-out kit" from Blaster's Blog. And maybe a bit of Prussian Blue, too.
- That's not good enough for Vodkapundit, who asks: "Can you keep up that American spirit of grilling-in-the-face-of-disaster, even if the worst should happen?"
- Viking Pundit notes that the Slate Saddameter is at 97% odds on war. Place yer bets, folks - me, I'm taking USA with the spread.
- Truth Laid Bear is still taking links and submissions in the Great Iraq Cross-Blog Debate. Be ye pro or anti, there's a set of questions for you.
- Saddam's Successor? The Brothers Judd say the decision has been made. I like their choice - but I also think the "get out fast and leave an unstable government behind" approach is half-assed.
- Programs, get yer Iraqi programs here! Can't tell the Iraqi factions without a program, step right up! A useful post, honest most of the time but tends to give Saddam the benefit of the doubt in a few places. Just ignore the barking moonbats in the comments section.
- Targets! Get yer targets here! Aerial photos of Iraqi target zones, step right up!
- Patio Pundit, meanwhile, has a warning for allied forces. Be very careful about Iraqi "surrender" tactics. He doesn't mean that as a joke.
- blogoSFERICS adds a post on 'loitering' or 'sleeping' weapons under development by the USA. Very good against targets like mobile SCUD missiles... and terrorist leaders, for that matter.
- Turkey invokes Article 4 of NATO. Silent running has the details, and links to what the heck Article 4 is.
- Want to know what the Turks are thinking? Clubbeaux the Seal has the source for you.
- Give credit to Steven Den Beste - the man is intellectually honest enough to think through ideas that would puncture a theory he's become famous for. What if the whole "Axis of Weasels" rift isn't the result of something to hide? What if the whole NATO rift is just a giant cultural misunderstanding?
- I never in my life thought I'd read this from Charles Johnson (LGF).
- The Times of India reports that Pakistan is once again working closely with the Taliban, while trying to keep the USA off its case by going after "foreign" (read: Arab) jihadis on its soil. According to Ahmed Rashid, author of Taliban, Jihad, and The rise of militant Islam in Central Asia, there's a mobilization afoot to spur a Taliban offensive in time to coincide with the US strikes on Iraq. I think the 82nd can handle it. Bring it on, boys!
- On the Israeli front, Meryl Yourish researches and deconstructs casualty reports from the Israeli and Palestinian sides. The Washington Post emerges soundly fisked.
- Always end with a smile. Today's winner is Clubbeaux the Seal's Complete Military History of France

*The Den Beste thing* is freaking brilliant. Go read it now.
Why don't you call it "War Huddle?"
Call it 'War Wroundup' ;)
Hi all:
gee that's been my point all along with respect to refuting Den Beste's analyses of Europe, the war Jacksonianism at my blog.
It's the hectoring moralism of the Jacksonians that riles me very deeply. That if we don't share the same outlook, we're weak bumblers of morally reprehensible character, we're treated as enemies or we despise liberty and constituonal, law abiding, realtively capitalistic polities
It's that blinkered hubris of self rightousness that we're right even when we're wrong and the Other is always wrong even when he's right too

How about "War Drums" for a name? I even have a post *by that name* on my blog. Give it a read.
Hey Joe: been having a heck of a time trying to get email to you. Do you have some kind of unforgiving, harsh spam filter installed? ;^)
Joe, no matter what you end up calling it, it's a pretty danged neat idea.
Here's a name for the War Report. How about 'The Winds of War?'
Darn it! Blaster beat me to it. Credit where it's due.
