Which Iraqi political party would you vote for?

I've seen these before on US politics, but there is now an online questionnaire via Iraq the Model that'll show you where your views fall in within the Iraqi political spectrum as well as where the parties stand on the issues. As Iraq prepares for the December elections, this may serve to be a fairly useful tool in bringing the realities of who comes to power home to average reader.

For myself, my top 3 choices were 68% PUK (good thing too, since Talabani's son is an acquaintance of mine!), 64% Iraqi National Accord (Allawi's group, maybe the CIA will like me after all), and 60% KDP. So take the quiz and by all means enjoy yourself!

You know Talabani's son? That is extremely cool!

I'm 64% PKU, 52% KDP, 52% INA and smaller percentages for other parties.

Seth... thanks to our "Buy Hitch a Drink" campaign, Winds ended up sending him about $800, as this was Mr. Hitchens' request for the funds so raised.

A very interesting exercise, esp. if when you're finished, you go and click on some of the parties to see how their platforms match your stands. You may find (as I did) that the parties you're ranked most closely with on a numerical basis AREN'T folks you can vote for, because your areas of disagreement are deal breakers.

Pretend you're really an Iraqi voter, then try it and see what I mean!

I'm 64% PUK even though I do not favor its version of strong federalism and 56% Fadhila even though I do not support Islamic law.

Is there no political party for me in Iraq either?

64% PUK. That's my federalism, I guess. Then 40% for both the KDP and INC.

PUK was at a 24% lowest of counts for me.

In the mid 60 per centages were ITF, INA, Fadhila, IIP.
So sue me !

Everybody who voted PUK or KDP. First question for if you would vote on that party is "Are you an Iraqi kurd?". If you answer is no than it is very unlikely that you ever would vote on those parties as their programs are very "unfriendly" to non Kurdish voters.

Also the question of more autonomy depends largerly on where you live. If you live in the South than keeping the oil refenue in the South sounds great but if you live around Bagdad than this sounds really bad.

Also the question if family members were made POW by Iran is very important. If yes than i doubt you would be able to vote for SCIRI as they guarded the POW's

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
