Winds of Change.NET No-Pledge Week

| 4 Comments | 1 TrackBack

Winds of Change has always been free, never asking for donations even when things have been tight on my end. We intend to stay that way.

So what turns our crank? More visitors!!! We aim for quality in our writing, and work hard to direct people to good writing elsewhere. We're thrilled with the 1,200-1,800 we get on the average weekday, but we'd like to be able to do more. Much more! Especially now, when the issues we cover in depth have become so important.

So if you like this blog, please spread the word. I know many of you have been doing it already, and thank you! Special thanks to No-Pledge blog supporters Daily Pundit, Dean's World, Mader Blog, Omnibus Bill, One Hand Clapping, Pseudorandom Thoughts, Shots Across the Bow, Vodkapundit and Zogby Blog.

Since the general rule is that if we don't ask, we won't get, we're asking those who are so inclined to...

  1. Visit regularly, and use features like "Winds of War" as a convenient one-stop research tool for your blog. When you find worthy material that way, post a Hat Tip link back to us. It's a good karma balancer, too - the more popular it gets, the more links we'll steer back your way when we link you.

  2. E-mail friends, especially friends who you know like reading stuff online, to suggest that they check out Winds of Change.NET. Tips to media sources and individuals who you think might like us are also deeply appreciated.

  3. Use the new "Email this!" link at the bottom of each article to inform them of blog posts they'd enjoy. Or just copy the URL and send it via your regular email.

  4. Add us to your blogroll, if you have a blog. We fully understand why some people might like to keep their blogrolls small (voting is forcing that on us), but our general practice is to blogroll those blogs that we regularly read -- if you agree with us on this, and you read us regularly, perhaps you might do the same, if you haven't already.

  5. Add us to your organization's blogroll, if you run it - we know some mainstream media organizations keep lists of recommended blogs, as do some think tanks and academic departments.

  6. Bookmark us, if you find that you visit occasionally and think "Gee, I wish I'd visited more often, but I keep forgetting."

Or, if you prefer, just read us on whatever terms you like. Thanks for being part of our blog.

N.B. Thanks are also due to Eugene Volokh for giving us the idea from his example.

Winds of Change from Dean's World
Excerpt: Before I have them all killed, you may want to check them out.

I just did this Saturday: made a list of my favorite weblogs and emailed them to my friends (that had requested it), including my husband.

I notice you gave me some props a few weeks back. Cheers, and thanks for the boost. I just discovered y'all today - consider yourself blogrolled.

Please stop by Crimen Falsi whenever you feel like getting incisive commentary, ranted at, a good laugh, or tips on high quality food & liquor.

Omnibus Bill

You've been added to my blogroll. Not that it means alot, since I'm only in the 100 hits per day range, but I do strive for quality over quantity. (Yeah, good excuse!)

Thanks to Joe and all the wonderful folks at Winds of Change. We don't quote your posts often because we like you, we do it because your comments are reasoned, logical, and well thought out and, well, we do like you.

Here are some quick tips for adding simple Textile formatting to your comments, though you can also use proper HTML tags:

*This* puts text in bold.

_This_ puts text in italics.

bq. This "bq." at the beginning of a paragraph, flush with the left hand side and with a space after it, is the code to indent one paragraph of text as a block quote.

To add a live URL, "Text to display":http://windsofchange.net/ (no spaces between) will show up as Text to display. Always use this for links - otherwise you will screw up the columns on our main blog page.
